Going on a safari adventure in Kenya is a journey into the heart of Africa’s most iconic landscapes and wildlife habitats, but it’s also a destination that offers exceptional golfing opportunities amidst breathtaking scenery.
From the vast savannahs of the Maasai Mara to the stunning coastline along the Indian Ocean, Kenya’s fusion of golf and safari experiences creates a holiday like no other. In Nairobi, Kenya’s vibrant capital, golf enthusiasts can tee off at a number of world-class courses such as the Karen Country Club and Muthaiga Golf Club. Nestled amidst lush greenery, these courses offer challenging layouts and great views of the city skyline, providing the perfect combination of urban sophistication and natural beauty.
Outside of Nairobi en route to Lake Nakuru National Park, famous for its flamingos and rhinos you can stop and play at the Great Rift Valley Lodge & Golf Resort. Perched on the escarpment and overlooking Lake Naivasha is this superb Sir Henry Cotton designed course. Heading to the Kenya Coast, golfers can enjoy leisurely rounds at coastal resorts like Vipingo Ridge and Nyali Golf & Country Club in Mombasa or the Leisure Lodge Golf Club in Diani Beach.
Of course, no safari in Kenya would be complete without enjoying the country’s rich wildlife heritage. Witness the Great Migration in the Maasai Mara, where millions of wildebeest and zebras thunder across the plains in search of fresh grazing grounds. Explore the acacia-dotted landscapes of Amboseli National Park, home to elephants, lions and more against the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro. And throughout your journey, take the time to connect with the local communities, including the Maasai people, who will enrich your experience with their traditional wisdom and hospitality.
A safari adventure in Kenya offers not only the chance to witness Africa’s incredible wildlife but also the opportunity to play golf amidst some stunning landscapes. We’ve played the courses, enjoyed the Tusker beer and loved all this iconic safari destination has to offer and look forward to helping you create your own Kenyan golf adventure.
The weather is mostly ideal for golf all year round, with the peak tourist season being from late December to early February. Kenya has a
long history with golf – the Royal Nairobi Golf Club was founded more than a century ago. The best time to travel to Kenya is during the dry
seasons – January and February, and late June to October, when the weather is cooler and wildlife easier to spot. The “Big Five” can be seen in national parks like Amboseli, Lake Nakuru, Samburu, Maasai Mara, Tsavo, Meru, Laikipia, the Aberdares, and Mount Kenya. The Great
Migration of zebras and wildebeests occur from July and ends late September.
